I found the following works best. Mount volumes by label name. In fstab for the device name use "LABEL=ROOT" make sure you've actually labeled the FS. This helps when the raid name changed. Use the "huge" kernel with initrd. This is easier to maintain between updates, and has a lot of drivers I tend to miss.
