WebFeb 3, 2024 · The gas pedal hinged on the floor instead of on the firewall like newer cars, so pretty much every floor mat that had ever been in that car was on top of the gas pedal at some point. Never made a difference. The gas never got jammed, even when the entire floor mat was scrunched up all over it and under the brake pedal at the same time.
