Web1 Jan 2014 · According to the AAST scale, the splenic injuries were classified as grade I in 20 of the 146 patients (14%), grade II in 30 (21%), grade III in 68 (46%), grade IV in 25 (17%), and grade V in three (2%) ( Tables 1, 2 ). WebGrading scale ranges from 1 to 5. Advance one grade for multiple injuries in different areas of the spleen, up to Grade III. 2. Active bleeding constitutes a grade III or greater injury. 3. There is correlation between grade of splenic injury established from CT scan findings and frequency of necessity for operative intervention.
